La Belle Dame Sans Merci

The woman Keats describes is very mystical and ethereal - "a faery's child".  This idolic woman is also a very common theme in literature.  Male writers often refer to the woman as something unattainable and unreachable; above the man in spiritual and emotional spheres.  A knight comes across her where she lures him in with love and puts him to sleep.  When he awakens, he is left alone.  Keats talks about making many things for this woman, and giving her gifts and praise.  Because he loves her, it is easy for him to step into this magical world where the knight has fantastical dreams.
